Artist of the Month – Andrea Mosey

We are delighted to have a new collection of work by Andrea Mosey. This is the first time that we have had Andrea’s work with us.

Andrea Mosey is a landscape and seascape painter working primarily in oils, based in her North Yorkshire studio. Her work is inspired directly by the landscape and is often characterised by wide open spaces and dramatic skies. She aims to create paintings that are evocative and serene, offering moments of quiet reflection and a sense of connection to place.

Andrea’s paintings explore the relationship between land and sky, rooted in her experience of the Yorkshire landscape. The skies she paints are expansive and ever-changing, shaped by the contours of the land, the long horizons, and the shifting light of the seasons. It is this meeting point, where earth anchors the eye and sky opens the imagination, that forms the heart of her work.

Her paintings are less about describing a specific location and more about conveying the human response of being within a landscape — the weight of weather, the stillness before change, and the quiet presence of nature. Andrea’s creative process blends reference imagery with imagination, allowing memory, emotion and atmosphere to guide each piece. She is a member of North Yorkshire Open Studios and in 2023 was honoured to receive the British Contemporary Art Award.
